Alkali Ridge Trail

Alkali Ridge Trail is a part of the Centennial Trail and is generally riden as an out out-and back ride. All single track, almost all uphill on the way out (just over 4 miles) and almost all downhill on the way back.

To reach the parking area, from Rapid City, take Interstate 90 approximately 20 minutes to Exit 34. Turn right at the stop sign and then take an immediate left onto BLM Road. Travel 0.3 miles into the Ft. Meade Recreational Area and turn right into the Alkali Creek Trailhead parking lot. The trail starts on the other side of BLM Road , across from the parking lot.

Note: From the parking lot, cross the gravel road, go over the fence, stay left whenever you see a fork in the trail and you will go under Interstate 90. Once you go under the Interstate the trail is easy to follow. If you keep going past the 4 mile mark you will go down a long steep downhill which is fun but don’t forget that you will have to come back up that hill to get back to your car.
